Mike Huckabee doesn’t want to cut funding to the National Endowment for the Arts. The former Arkansas governor wrote a Washington Post op-ed defending the federal program.

Huckabee makes a wonderful utilitarian case for federal arts funding, but what about the fact the Constitution doesn’t authorize it?

Huckabee often positions himself as a constitutionalist – especially when it comes to abortion and religious freedom. During a presidential debate, he even trotted out the Tenth Amendment.

The fact is there are a lot of things happening at the federal level that are absolutely beyond that jurisdiction of the Constitution. This is power that should be shifted back to the states.”

Except when the federal government does things he supports. Then it’s full-speed ahead!

Huckabee is nothing but another fake constitutional conservative.
