“10 Minutes Closer to Freedom”

In this episode of Thoughts from Maharrey Head, I talk about why we should fight our impulse to look at people in terms of groups and instead focus on them as individuals.

We tend to look people in terms of groups – blacks, immigrants, gays, refugees, white men, liberals, conservatives, women, etc. etc. etc. This isn’t necessarily bad on the surface and it’s a natural tendency. Our brains work by categorizing things. It helps us sort them out and make sense out of a chaotic world.

This week I talk about why we should resist our inclination to view people based on group categorizations and instead consider each person as a unique individual. I also discuss how the political class uses groups to divide us and pit us against one another for their gain.
