A few months ago, I was reading an article about the drone war and the number of innocent people killed by American drone strikes. The accounts in the article struck me in a very visceral way, and I started scribbling lines on a sheet of scrap paper. That started a process that culminated in this song.
It’s been more than 15 years since I recorded any music. It was interesting getting back into the process with all of the technology at my fingertips. I don’t claim to be any kind of virtuoso, but I am pleased with the final product.
Although it is quite dark, I hope it stimulates some thought.
